Partch was drafted into the US Army in 1944, and by the end of his two-year stint had been transferred from the infantry to become art director and cartoonist of the Army's weekly newspaper, the Fort Ord ''Panorama.''

Out of the Army, Partch [[freelance]]d for [[ERA Productions]]. He published a number of books of single-panel cartoons, some previously published, others done specifically for the books. His 1950 bestseller, ''Bottle Fatigue,'' focused on alcohol-themed humor, sold nearly 95,000 hardcover copies by the decade's end.<ref name=bhob />

Partch created the strip, ''The Captain's Gig'' (about a motley bunch of mariners and castaways), syndicated by [[Field Newspaper Syndicate|Field Enterprises]]. He also illustrated several children's books including ''The Dog Who Snored Symphonies'' and ''The Christmas Cookie Sprinkle Snatcher''.<ref name=irvine />

From 1956, Partch lived in a house on the cliffs above [[Corona del Mar, Newport Beach]]. He often joined the cartoonists who regularly met at midday in the bar at the White House restaurant on the [[Pacific Coast Highway (California)|Pacific Coast Highway]] in [[Laguna Beach, California|Laguna Beach]]: Phil and Frank Interlandi, Ed Nofziger, John Dempsey, Don Tobin, Roger Armstrong, Dick Shaw, and Dick Oldden. In 1979, Partch was awarded the [[Inkpot Award]].<ref>[https://www.comic-con.org/awards/inkpot Inkpot Award]</ref> With the onset of cataracts, Partch retired from cartooning in January 1984, and donated his collection of 3,700 original cartoons to the [[University of California, Irvine]] library. == Synopsis ==
[[Piggy (Merrie Melodies)|Piggy Hamhock]] is always hungry, thinking of eating and stealing food whenever he can. Piggy's mother is continuously vexed by his seemingly insatiable appetite and inability to control himself. Piggy's gluttony causes problems which give his mother and the rest of his large family considerable annoyance, especially at mealtimes. After he eats his siblings' [[spaghetti]] meals at dinner, Piggy's mother scolds him and warns Piggy that he will burst someday if he continues his bad eating habits.

After falling asleep following dinner, Piggy enters a [[dream sequence]] where he meets a mysterious old man who offers him a large feast, at which Piggy is delighted. The old man is revealed to be a [[mad scientist]], who straps Piggy into a mechanical chair and plots to use Piggy as a test subject for his experiments. The intention of the experiment is revealed when the scientist unveils his "Feed-A-Matic" machine, which he plans to use to [[force-feeding|force-feed]] Piggy as much food as he can hold. The scientist uses the Feed-A-Matic to continuously force-feed Piggy using soup, olives, bananas, pies, sandwiches, and ice cream until Piggy is morbidly [[obesity|obese]] and bulging out of the chair.

The mad scientist is amazed at this and pokes Piggy's huge belly, then he asks if he's had enough, to which Piggy says yes. The scientist releases him and Piggy waddles to the door but then notices the food which the scientist used to bait him earlier and his greed gets the better of him. He takes one of the turkey's [[Drumstick (poultry)|drumsticks]] and eats it but immediately explodes.

Piggy wakes up in his bed immediately thereafter, relieved that he is all right. Piggy then responds to his mother calling him to breakfast with fear, but he quickly goes to begin devouring his meal, apparently having already forgotten his lesson.
