Plans and goals

• NASA target the 2030s for a crewed mission to Mars, with significant progress made through its Artemis program and Mars-focused technology development.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> The Artemis missions, including the upcoming Artemis II crewed lunar flyby and Artemis III lunar landing, are designed to test systems and capabilities essential for Mars exploration.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> NASA has also introduced a new class of astronauts in 2025 who may participate in future missions to the Moon and Mars.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> According to NASA's Mars Exploration Program, the agency is actively developing technologies and strategies to enable sustainable human presence on Mars, including nuclear power systems, advanced habitats, and in-situ resource utilization.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref>
