English: The Daedalus 87 hangs in the Washington Dulles AirportAeroTrain station atrium in the B-Concourse on September 30, 2025. The graphite composite 68-pound (31 kg) human-powered aircraft was created by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology'sLincoln Laboratory. The second of the two identical aircraft constructed by the lab, Daedalus 88, holds the world record for human-powered straight-line duration and distance flight in a fixed-wing aircraft. This aircraft, Daedalus 87 crashed during testing on February 17, 1988 and was rebuilt as a backup. First displayed at the Museum of Science, Daedalus 87 has been exhibited at Dulles since December 15, 2009.
