Arms of Leonard Chamberlayne of Thoralby in the wapentake of Buckrose in Yorkshire. The blazon given in James Parker's 1847 and 1894 A Glossary of Terms Used in (British) Heraldry is: Argent a chevron between three fylfots Gules. In his 2017 article "The heralds' swastika", Clive Cheesman blazons the same arms Argent a chevron between three swastikas Gules. A drawing of the arms – without a blazon – is in the British Library's Harleian manuscript 1394, folio 176 recto and in the College of Arms' Philpot manuscript 51, folio 252 recto. |
