The manuscript reads as follows: Breve reseña acerca de la parroquia de Banate (Filipinas) Il que suscribe Fr. Agapito Lope, agustino, parroco que fué del pueblo de Banate, Provincia de Yloilo (Filipinas) en el tiempo del Gobierno Español declara lo siguiente: 1˚ Fue en dicho pueblo de Banate habia una iglesia parroquial de materiales fuertes hasta la torre, con con cubierta de zinc y hierro galvanizado; tenia tres naves con crucero y tres altares. Tenia terrenos que podian servir para huerta y de hecho sirvieron parte de ellos para hortaliza y forrage durante el tiempo que el que esto escribe tuvo el honor de regis dicha parroquia. No tenian cerca alguna. Dichos terrenos abarcaban una extension de unos dos cientos metros de largo por unos ciento viente de ancho, desde la playa siguiendo un desaguadero é imbornal junto à la casa de Doña Vicenta Baban y atravesando la calzada real hasta detras de la iglesia. Sostenian dicha casa parroquial una docena de harigues de molave de extraordinario grandor de ochenta centimetros de diametro; la cubierta de zinc. Hasta el año mil ochocientos noventa y nueve existió juno a la playa una casa parroquial demateriales fuertes hasta il piso superior y maderas, con cubierta de Nipa. De esta casa se sacaron los harigues o pilares para levantar la nueva casa parroquial. 2˚ No habia ninguna capilla en los barrios. 3˚ Fue habia un cementerio cercado de pequeña tapia a unos quinientos metros distante del caseo... |
