English: On the 50th anniversary of the iconic "Blue Marble" photo, a new true-color image of Earth was captured by the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) on board the Deep Space Climate Observatory. This December 7, 2022 image showcases our planet in all its beauty. Interestingly, it coincides with a significant milestone in human history. Just three weeks prior, the global population reached 8 billion, compared to 3.83 billion in 1972. |
