Summary

Description

The fourteenth-century Market Cross, erected when the privilege to hold a weekly market was granted to Castle Combe. The cross is situated where the three principal streets converge. The stonework in the foreground, sometimes called the Buttercross, was for horseriders to mount and dismount.
