English: 41 of the 118 chemical elements have names connected with various places. 32 of those are found around the world, and 9 are among celestial bodies in the Solar System.

This image is a combined world map and Solar System map showing the places where each of these 41 element names are connected to. If an element is named for an entire country, that country is represented with solid color. France is depicted with a diagonal split because two elements have been named for the country. In the case of two US states, these are colored in as well. Other locations on the world map have lines pointing to the place where the element has a naming connection. The connection between the name Beryllium and Belur in India is tenuous and indirect at best, so it is marked with an asterisk. The connection between indium and India is also indirect and asterisked.

In the inset map of the Solar System, the nine of the 118 chemical elements that have names that are connected to astronomical objects are shown. These include the Sun and half of the eight planets along with the Moon and two bodies within the Asteroid Belt: Ceres and Pallas. Pluto also has an element named for it. But the planets Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn do not have elements named for them. Also, the element mercury is named directly for the deity, so the connection to the planet Mercury is indirect (indicated with the asterisk).

The inset graphic is a modification of the plaques launched into deep space on the Pioneer probes during the early 1970s. The straight purple lines point to relative locations of celestial bodies that were not depicted on the original plaque.
