| Blazon | Deutsch: Der Gemeinde ist mit Urkunde des Regierungspräsidenten Köln vom 24. Oktober 1975 das Recht zur Führung eines Wappens verliehen worden. „In Rot ein goldener (gelber) Doppeladler, überhöht von einem durchgehenden vierlätzigen, goldenen (gelben) Turnierkragen.“ Das Wappen basiert auf einem Siegel von 1447, welches nur den Doppeladler zeigte. Der Turnierkragen stammt von den Herren Stach aus Golzheim und wurde später hinzugefügt. Die vier Lätze repräsentieren die Ortsteile Alt-Merzenich, Girbelsrath, Golzheim und Morschenich. English: „The arms were granted on October 24, 1975. The arms are based on a seal dating from 1447, that only showed an eagle. The four former municipalities are represented in the upper part, the fess at such is taken from the arms of the Lords Stach of Golzheim.“ |
