This is one of the water-colour drawings made by Georg Forster during James Cook's second voyage to the Pacific 1772-1775. This plate was mentioned by John Latham when describing the "pied shag".(Latham, 1785) The watercolour is listed by Sharpe 1906 and Lysaght 1959 as Plate 106. This is the number written on the right hand side of the watercolour. The NHM lists this watercolour as Plate 105. The image has been cropped by the uploader to remove the scale bar and the colour chart. |
