DescriptionGuillaume Apollinaire 1914.jpg
English: Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918) in 1914. Cropped image showing the left half of one photo in a series of 49 photos picturing Guillaume Apollinaire and André Rouveyre, taken in quick succession with a photo machine of the studio Biofix in Paris on August 1, 1914. On their way to the office of the newspaper Comoedia, Apollinaire and Rouveyre had the pictures taken in the studio of Biofix, located nearby on the same street, at 23 boulevard Poissonnière, Paris. Biofix produced the photographic prints, bound with a metal base to form a flip book. The original prints bound in the metal base were rediscovered by Apollinaire's widow, Jacqueline, in 1938. The 49 photos were first reproduced in the book Apollinaire filmé en 1914 Reproduction des 50 images en reconstitution de la petite machine animée, Le point, Lanzac par Souillac, published in 1944, with an introduction by Rouveyre telling the circumstances. Ref.: [1][2]. 32 of the photographs were also reproduced later in André Rouveyre, Amour et poésie d'Apollinaire, Éditions du Seuil, Paris, 1955.
