Description

IWM caption : British light cruiser HMS MAURITIUS ready for action with other Allied shipping off the beachhead at Anzio. Note the twin 4 inch guns at full elevation on the starboard side of the cruiser.


Comment : This was in support of Operation Shingle, commonly known as the Battle of Anzio.
