| Description |
English: A petroleum pipeline can transmit multiple products, however since the pipeline contents only move at 3 to 8 miles per hour, it does not make sense to flush and refill the pipeline. Rather, multiple products are present in the pipeline at the same time, just at different places in a carefully scheduled sequence. Branch lines request a product many days in advance, and then pull the desired product when it eventually passes by on the main line. |
