Description
English: Portrait of József Majláth de Székhely as Governor of Fiume. József Majláth served as governor between 1776 and 1783. The painting was commissioned in 1838 for the decoration of the state-room of the City Hall together with a portrait of Governor Pál Almásy. The Baroque portrait was probably a copy of a lost older work or it was painted in a deliberately old-fashioned way. A view of the city is visible in the background.
