Below and to the right of Mare Serenitatis is Mare Tranquillitatis, the Sea of Tranquility. Above the Mare Serenitatis is Lacus Somniorum, the Lake of Dreams, and below and to the left is Mare Vaporum, the Sea of Vapors.

The red 21 indicates the landing place of the Luna 21 mission, while the green 15 and 17 arrows indicate the Apollo 15 and Apollo 17 landing places.
