Summary
DescriptionMaria SS Anunziata di Firenze.jpg
English: The fresco of The Ss.Annunciata of Florence, painted 1252 on the inner side of the façade wall of the basilica of the same name, home of the Servi di Maria religious order. The legend states that the features of the Virgin, that the painter despaired to be able to render, were added by an angel during a slumber of the painter. This would make the painting an Acheiropoieta icon, rather unusual in Italy at the date. The fresco, darkened by centuries of candle smoke, has been cleaned and shown again to religious worship December the 8th, 2020
