Originally delivered to QANTAS Australia as VH-EBM in Sep-64, the aircraft only operated with QANTAS for 4 years until it was replaced by deliveries of new larger B707-338B's. It was stored at Sydney, Australia, in Nov-68.

The following year, in Jun-69, it was sold to Braniff International Airways as N180BN. Again, it only operated for Braniff for 4 years until it was withdrawn from service and stored in Oct-73. Almost two years later, in Jun-75, it was sold to the Boeing Airplane Company in part-exchange for a new Boeing 727.

In Sep-75 Boeing sold it to Tracey Investments (Kirk Kerkorian) and the interior was converted for 'Corporate' use. It was sold on completion to Frank Sinatra in Jan-77 and operated by TAG Aviation. It was re-registered N707XX in Jul-90. In 1995 it was sold to Aviation Methods and operated in the Middle East.

It was stored at Istanbul, Turkey, during 1997. In May-98 it was bought by Jett Clipper Johnny LLC (John Travolta's holding company named after his son Jett and himself) and leased to John Travolta.

In Dec-98 it was re-registered N707JT. In 2003 John Travolta did a deal with QANTAS and the aircraft was repainted in it's original QANTAS 'V-Jet' livery while Travolta became a QANTAS Ambassador. In exchange, QANTAS looked after the aircraft's maintenance.

It's named "Jett Clipper Ella" after his son and daughter. It was also partly repainted in Pan-Am livery while it 'starred' in a recent movie about the airline. Although it didn't get a lot of use and was now 51 years old, the aircraft was still operational as of Sep-15.

In 2017, after a period in storage at Brunswick, GA, USA, John Travolta donated the aircraft to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society, Wollongong, Australia. However, arranging the special permit required to make the flight took longer to arrange than originally thought.

Then the COVID-19 Pandemic interfered with the plans and the extended lockdown in Australia hasn't helped. As far as I'm aware the aircraft is still at Brunswick, GA, USA. Updated 22-Apr-23.
