Since this magazine was first published in the U.S. before 1964, the original copyright lasted 27 years from the end of the year of first publication. The copyright holder was free to renew the copyright any time during the year 1973-74, but they did not do so. (Pre-1979 renewals can be searched here). The copyright has expired.

This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
Public domainPublic domainfalsefalse
The author died in 1961, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 60 years or fewer.
This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1931 and 1963 and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain". This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
