English: Top third of a surviving 4th-century Roman letter, from Vitalis to his dominus Achillius, from Franz Steffens' Lateinische Paläographie (1903), table 13. The letter is reported to be Latin papyrus "Argent 1", at Strassbourg.
Steffens relates one R. Reitzenstein bought it from an Egyptian merchant, and it is ultimately of unknown provenance. As governor Achillius is referred to as "praeses", Steffens says it must be dated to some time before 362 AD, as that year the governor of Phoenicia began being called "consularis" instead.
