Summary
DescriptionSBB A 3-5 617 in Chambrelien.JPG
English: SBB superheated four-cylinder compound machine A 3/5 No. 617 on the turntable in Chambrelien.
Chambrelien is located on the Neuchâtel-La Chaux-de-Fonds route, which makes a zig zag at Chambrelien station to overcome the difference in altitude between Neuchâtel railway station (479 m asl) and Convers (1048 m). In the past, the locomotives had to run-round their trains and turn on the turntable. Today, this cumbersome procedure is eliminated: SBB only use commuter trains on this route.
