Summary
DescriptionSketch of William Buckley by John Helder Wedge (c 1835-1836).png
English: John Helder Wedge's sketch of William Buckley, a former convict at the Sullivan Bay settlement (near Sorrento on Port Phillip Bay) who escaped in 1803 and lived with the Wathaurong people near Geelong. He visited a camp of European settlers in 1835 at Indented Head and eventually made himself part of the European settlement of Port Phillip District. Wedge was a notable early European settler of Port Phillip, due to his membership of the Port Phillip Association and his map of John Batman's exploration of the area.
