Title
TAG
Description
English:

A modern aluminium military 'dog tag' of a serviceman from the United States. The single dog tag bears the legend: CHAS.E.PICKFORD, 31108954 T42-43 A (name of the serviceman / army number / tetanus immunization / blood group); CATHERINE A. PICKFORD 567 1ST AVE BERLIN NH C (next of kin/next of kin address/religion (Catholic). Unfortunately the tag was not donated to the museum as requested.

Mr Charles E Pickford of 567 First Avenue, Berlin, New Hampshire appears in the 1940 United States Federal census and is listed as 26 years old (born in 1913), married to Catherine with three sons, a daughter and a sister-in-law living at the same address. The US military records state that Charles E Pickford enlisted in Manchester, New Hampshire on 19th June 1942. The format of the information on the dog tag suggests it was issued before July 1943.
