This is a GIANT perennial southern yellowjacket (Vespula squamosa) nest which is a part of my personal collection. Photo shot by w:User:Hornetboy1970 in 2007. A partially-drunk one-gallon milk container is in the foreground for size reference.

The page at bugguide.net states the dimensions of the nest as 18 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches.
