Summary
| Description | The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Randolph (CV-15) and the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Indefatigable (R10) underway off Japan in 1945. Still on alert in case the Japanese surrender was a deception, the large carriers of the Task Force 38 remained at sea while the battleships and some light carriers entered Sagami Bay and then Tokyo Bay for the official Japanese surrender. The photo was taken from the USS Wasp (CV-18). |
