'''Awarua Point''' is located on the southwestern coast of [[New Zealand]]'s [[South Island]], at the northern end of [[Big Bay (Southland)|Big Bay]], {{convert|40|km}} north of [[Milford Sound / Piopiotahi]], and {{convert|15|km}} north of the mouth of the [[Hollyford River / Whakatipu Kā Tuka]].<ref>{{LINZ|1791||2009-09-18}}</ref>

Traditionally, Awarua Point is regarded as the end of [[Fiordland]] and the start of the [[West Coast, New Zealand|West Coast]] region, although the boundary of [[Fiordland National Park]] is located {{convert|10|km}} further south at the northern end of Martins Bay.
