'''Liberation Day''' is a day, often a [[public holiday]], that marks the liberation of a place, similar to an [[independence day]], but differing from it because it does not involve the original creation of statehood. It commemorates the end of an occupation (as in the [[Liberation Day (Falkland Islands)|Falkland Islands]]) or the fall of a regime (as in [[Public holidays in Portugal|Portugal]]) or the liberation from both a foreign occupation and a collaborationist regime (as in [[Public holidays in France|France]] and [[Liberation Day (Italy)|Italy]]).
