[[Iceland]] has a [[multi-party system]] with many [[political party|political parties]], in which often no one party has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form [[coalition government]]s.

Nine parties were elected at the [[2022 Icelandic municipal elections]]. Six parties were elected at the [[2024 Icelandic parliamentary election]] to the [[Althing]].
