&amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The 7th Guest]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was one of the first computer games for [[CD-ROM]]. Most of the footage for the game was filmed with a [[United States dollar|US$]]35,000 budget, [[Super VHS]] cameras, and blue butcher paper as a background that would later be removed using [[chromakey]] to insert the actors in the game. In the game, the player must move around the map solving puzzles in a style similar to &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Myst]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. Most of the puzzles in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039; were based on versions of pre-existing puzzles invented by people such as [[Max Bezzel]].  The 7th Guest was the first game to use full rendered 3D animation and navigation. For the time, it had state-of-the-art graphics by [[Rob Landeros]], [[Robert Stein III]], [[Gene Bodio]], [[Alan Iglesias]], MIDI music by [[George Sanger (musician)|The Fat Man]], and a story by [[Matthew J. Costello]]. During planning, a sequel was being considered. The final version of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was released in April 1993, with 60,000 copies sold overnight.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The 11th Hour (computer game)|The 11th Hour]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was released in the winter of 1995, after missing its original release date by more than a year. It was one of the first games to support 16-bit color, with detailed environments and fluid motion. However, the game drew criticism for several reasons:&lt;br /&gt;

Despite pre-orders, sales did not meet the expected amount, and the game did not recover its production costs.  This was a key factor in the company&amp;#039;s financial downfall.&lt;br /&gt;

The next projects for Trilobyte were published by Trilobyte itself. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Clandestiny]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, with gameplay similar to the previous &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 11th Hour&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, though using [[cell animation|cel animated]] (cartoon) video rather than live action, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Uncle Henry&amp;#039;s Playhouse]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, a re-packaging of a number of the puzzles and games from &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 11th Hour&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Clandestiny&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. Neither were commercially successful.&lt;br /&gt;

After &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Clandestiny&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, the company effectively took two different internal directions. Landeros led a project called &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Tender Loving Care (video game)|Tender Loving Care]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, while Devine started a Massively Multiplayer project, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Millennium&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.  &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Tender Loving Care,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; starring [[John Hurt]], was completed in 1998.&lt;br /&gt;

In June 1998, [[The Learning Company]] acquired Broderbund. By December, Trilobyte was close to reaching an agreement with Midway and Devine unsuccessfully sought funding from [[Paul Allen]] to keep the company afloat until it was finalized. However, the publisher stopped calling at the end of the month and, in January 1999, the company was being evicted. In November 2010, Trilobyte was resurrected. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The 7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was relaunched for the iPhone and iPad in December 2010.  In April 2011, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The 7th Guest: Infection]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;—a stand-alone version of the popular Microscope Puzzle from the original &amp;#039;&amp;#039;7th Guest&amp;#039;&amp;#039;—was released for iPad.&lt;br /&gt;
