Acamas

Template:Short description Template:About Acamas or Akamas (Template:IPAc-en; Ancient Greek: Ἀκάμας) was a name attributed to several characters in Greek mythology. The following three all fought in the Trojan War, and only the first was not mentioned by Homer.

• Acamas, son of Theseus, mentioned by Virgil as being in the Trojan horse.<ref>Virgil, Aeneid 2.262</ref>
• Acamas, son of Antenor, fought on the side of the Trojans and killed one Greek.<ref>Hyginus, Fabulae 115</ref>
• Acamas, son of Eussorus, from Thrace,<ref>Homer, Iliad 6.8; Apollodorus, E.3.34</ref> and thus, could be the brother of Aenete<ref>Apollonius Rhodius, 1.950; Orphic Argonautica 502</ref> and Cyzicus.<ref>Hyginus, Fabulae 16</ref> With his comrade Peiros, son of Imbrasus, Acamas led a contingent of Thracian warriors to the Trojan War.<ref>Homer, Iliad 2.844 & 5.462; Dictys Cretensis, 2.35; Dares Phrygius, 18</ref> Acamas was killed by Ajax<ref name=":1">Homer, Iliad 6.8</ref> or by Idomeneus who thrust him out of his chariot and caught him, as he fell, on the tip of his spear.<ref>Dictys Cretensis, 3.4</ref>

• Acamas, a soldier in the army of the Seven against Thebes. When the two armies attack each other at the gates of the city, the hard-hearted Acamas pierces the Theban horseman Iphis.<ref>Statius, Thebaid 8.445</ref>
• Acamas, one of the Suitors of Penelope who came from Dulichium along with other 56 wooers.<ref>Apollodorus, E.7.26–27</ref> He, with the other suitors, was slain by Odysseus with the aid of Eumaeus, Philoetius, and Telemachus.<ref name=":12">Apollodorus, E.7.33</ref>
