History

San Jose was platted in 1858.<ref name="Stringer 634">Template:Cite book</ref> The village was incorporated in 1876.<ref name="Stringer 634" />

Geography

San Jose is located in eastern Mason County and northwestern Logan County. U.S. Route 136 passes through the village as its Main Street, leading west Template:Convert to Havana, the Mason county seat, and east Template:Convert to McLean. Lincoln, the Logan County seat, is Template:Convert to the southeast.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, San Jose has a total area of Template:Convert, all land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>

The racial makeup of the village was 86% White, 3% Asian and 10% a mix of any two races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1% of the population.
