At the time of the September 1962 coup, he held the rank of Major General<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> and served as Director of Signals in the Yemeni military.<ref>Template:Cite book</ref> He held several ministerial posts, such as minister of interior and minister of finance.<ref name="whoiswhoarab">Template:Cite book</ref> He lived in Lebanon from 1966 to 1967. Dayfallah also served as acting prime minister for nine days in January 1975.<ref name=yemen/> Dayfallah died in March 2019 at the age of 89.<ref>Template:Cite news</ref>
