Aginskoye (Template:Langx; Template:Langx, Aga; Template:Langx, Ag) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Agin-Buryat Okrug and of Aginsky District in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. It is located in the valley of the Aga River (the Amur basin). Population: Template:Ru-census2010 Template:Ru-census2002 Template:Su-census1989 7,200 (1967).

History

It was founded in 1781<ref name="Ref468">Registry of the Administrative-Territorial Units and the Inhabited Localities of Zabaykalsky Krai</ref> or, according to other sources, in 1811.<ref name="GSE">Агинское, Great Soviet Encyclopedia Template:In lang</ref>

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Aginskoye serves as the administrative center of Aginsky District and is subordinated to it.<ref name="Ref468" /> As a municipal division, the urban-type settlement of Aginskoye together with one rural locality in Aginsky District is incorporated as Aginskoye Urban Okrug.<ref name="Note">The Registry of the Administrative-Territorial Units and the Inhabited Localities lists three urban-type settlements and twenty-one rural localities in Aginsky District. The urban-type settlement of Aginskoye and one rural locality are listed as a part of Aginskoye Urban Okrug in Law #316-ZZK.</ref>

Climate

Aginskoye experiences a dry-winter borderline humid continental climate/subarctic climate (Köppen climate classification: Dwb/Dwc) with very cold, very dry winters and warm, wet summers. Template:Weather box
