Game design and programming

LaMothe is an independent game designer<ref name="Make"/> who was CEO of Xtreme Games<ref name="AuthorBio"/> and also developed video games for Microsoft Windows.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> In the gaming industry LaMothe has a reputation as the "Yoda of game design," encouraging and teaching other programmers.<ref name="Make"/> He and Alex Varanese also designed the XGameStation Micro Edition as a game development tool for hobbyists and students.<ref name="Make"/><ref>"XGame Station, Retro-Education" by Alex Handy, Game Developer Magazine, January 2005, page 5.</ref>

Writing career

Many of his game development books were released in the 1990s and early 2000s.
