It is the place where camembert cheese originated and is named after.<ref name="hist">Template:Cite web</ref>

Geography

The commune is part of the area known as Pays d'Auge.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref>

One river, the Viette, and four streams (the Fontaine de la Motte, Besion, the Moulin Neuf, and the Costillets) run through the commune.
