Earl of Cumberland

Template:Short description Template:Use dmy dates The title of Earl of Cumberland was created in the Peerage of England in 1525 for the 11th Baron de Clifford.<ref name=ODNB>Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004.</ref> It became extinct in 1643.<ref name=ODNB/> The dukedom of Cumberland was created the following year.

The subsidiary title of the first three earls was Baron de Clifford. The last earl was created Baron Clifford before he became earl, in 1628.<ref name=ODNB/>
