BOTWINNIK WINT HET STAUNTON WERELDSCHAAKTOURNOOI; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 37 uit 1946.; De schaakclub "Staunton" organiseert tgv het 75jarig bestaan een internationaal schaaktournooi in "De Harmonie" te Groningen. Winnaar wordt de Rus M. Botwinnik. Dr. Max Euwe wordt tweede. SHOTS: - In een zaal met publiek zitten tweetallen schakers te spelen; in het publiek zit een toeschouwer de partijen te analyseren mbv een miniatuur schaakbord; - op een reusachtig schaakbord wordt de koning omgelegd; 37:39 Euwe en A. Kotov (de laatste op de rug gezien); Euwe verliest de partij; 37:52 Botwinnik en Najdorf (de laatste op de rug gezien); Najdorf verliest de partij; 38:02 Botwinnik zegt enkele woorden in het Nederlands en gaat dan in het Russisch verder; publiek applaudisseert; de voorzitter van het uitvoerend comité, J. Duns, rijkt prijzen uit aan Botwinnik en Euwe; Euwe spreekt een kort dankwoord.
