House of Lobanov-Rostovsky
The House of Lobanov-Rostovsky (Template:Langx, literally "Lobanov-Rostovskys") is a Russian princely family that claims their descent from the House of Rurik<ref>Template:Cite book</ref> and whose male-line ancestors were the Template:Ill, who ruled the Principality of Rostov, the area now in the present-day Russia.<ref name=efron>Template:Cite Efron</ref><ref>Владимир Вольвович Богуславский, Славянская энциклопедия: Киевская Русь-Московия (Slavic Encyclopedia: Kievan Rus – Muscovy), "КнязьяЛобановы-Ростовские", pp.668-674</ref>
History
It originated with Prince Template:Ill, nicknamed Loban ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}) for his wide forehead ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}} means 'forehead' in Russian), who lived at the end of the 15th century and was a descendant of reigning princes of Rostov the Great.<ref>Gerhard Friedrich Müller, Известие о дворянах Российских, 1790, p.424</ref><ref name=efron/>
Some notable members of the family are listed in the "Lobanov-Rostovsky" article.
Their coat of arms has a divided shield: the upper part of blue color shows Archangel Gabriel, silver with golden halo and sword. The lower part in red shows a standing, gold-armed silver stag with a golden collar. Around the coat of arms are the princely insignia.<ref> Maximilian Gritzner, "Die Europäischen Fürstengeschlechter nicht Römisch-Kaiserlicher oder Deutsch-bundesfürstlicher Extraction." In: J.
