Karnet Prison Farm

The prison farm is located on a Template:Convert property and produces most of the vegetables, meat, milk, and eggs for Western Australia's prisons.<ref name=":1">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref name=":2">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> It has an abattoir, a dairy, a poultry farm, and an orchard and hydroponic gardens.<ref name=":3">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref><ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
The location was made a prison in 1963,<ref>Template:Cite news</ref><ref>Template:Citation</ref> and was formerly a facility for the treatment of alcoholics.<ref name=":0" />
It houses male prisoners, and has an inmate population of 360 as of 2019.<ref name=":3" /> It is a pre-release facility,<ref name=":3" /> open only to prisoners with less than five years to their earliest possible release date,<ref name=":2" /> and therefore aims to prepare prisoners for re-entrance into society after their incarceration.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
Notable past inmates include Alan Bond and Jimmy Krakouer.<ref name=":1" />
