Luna, officially the Municipality of Luna (Template:Langx; Template:Langx), is a municipality in the province of Apayao, Philippines. According to the 2024 census, it has a population of 21,630 people.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>

It currently serves as the de facto capital of Apayao where the provincial capitol and related offices is located the New Apayao Government Center. Kabugao remains as the de jure capital.

Etymology

Its former name was Macatel then it was changed to Luna by the town's founding father, the Ilocano explorer Antonino Barroga from Dingras, Ilocos Norte.<ref>Template:Cite news</ref>

Geography

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of Template:ConvertTemplate:PSGC detail constituting Template:Percentage of the Template:Convert total area of Apayao.

Luna is situated Template:Convert from the provincial capital Kabugao, and Template:Convert from the country's capital city of Manila.

The mayor, vice mayor, and the councilors are elected directly by the people through an election which is being held every three years.
