In 1872 the population was 179.<ref name="wilson">Template:Cite book</ref> Mordon was formerly in the parish of Sedgefield,<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> in 1866 Mordon became a civil parish.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
