The Pelecanidae is a family of pelecaniform birds within the Pelecani that contains three genera: the extinct Eopelecanus and Miopelecanus and the extant Pelecanus.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
Pelecanids have existed since the late Eocene (Priabonian)<ref name=Eopelecanus>Template:Cite journal</ref> and they still exist today.<ref>Template:Cite book</ref><ref name="linnaeus">Template:Cite book</ref>
