Smith County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,209.<ref>{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref> Its county seat is Raleigh.<ref name="GR6">{{#invoke:citation/CS1|citation |CitationClass=web }}</ref>
History
Smith County is named for Major David Smith.

Smith County is currently a Republican stronghold, although, like most of Mississippi, it was heavily Democratic up until the 1960s. Recently, in 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump broke 80% of the vote in the county for the first time since 1972.
