Thersander

In Greek mythology, the name Thersander (Template:IPAc-en; Ancient Greek: {{#invoke:Lang|lang}} Thersandros means 'bold man' derived from {{#invoke:Lang|lang}} Template:Transliteration 'boldness, braveness' and {{#invoke:Lang|lang}} Template:Transliteration 'of a man') refers to several distinct characters:

• Thersander or Thersandrus, a Corinthian prince as the son of King Sisyphus<ref name=":0">Pausanias, 2.4.3</ref> and the Pleiad Merope, daughter of the Titan Atlas. He was the brother of Ornytion (Porphyrion<ref>Scholia on Apollonius of Rhodes, Argonautica 3.1094</ref>), Glaucus and Almus.<ref name=":0" /> His sons were Haliartus and Coronus, eponyms of Haliartus and Coronea, respectively,<ref>Pausanias, 9.34.7; Stephanus of Byzantium, s.v. Haliartos, Korōneia</ref> and also Proetus, himself the father of Maera who was known to have died a maiden.<ref>Pausanias, 10.30.5</ref>
• Thersander, one of the Heracleidae, son of Agamedidas.He was a king of the Cleonaeans and his twin daughters Anaxandra and Lathria married the twin sons of Aristodemus, Procles and Eurysthenes.<ref>Pausanias, 3.16.6</ref>
• Thersander of Crete, father, by Arethusa, of a son Hyllus (not to be confused with the son of Heracles). Hyllus was killed by Aeneas in the Trojan War.<ref>Quintus Smyrnaeus, 10.30</ref>
• Thersander, son of Polynices and one of the Epigoni, killed by Telephus.<ref>Apollodorus, 3.7.2</ref>
