Life

Uthman II was a son of mai Idris I Nikalemi.<ref name=":22" /> His mother was named Famafa.<ref name=":22" /> Uthman II became mai in the mid-14th century,<ref name=":0232" /> succeeding his namesake cousin Uthman I.<ref name=":22" /> Uthman I had died in battle against the Bilala, who were invading the empire from the east.<ref name=":122">Template:Cite book</ref> Uthman II continued the war for two years,Template:Efn until he met the same fate.<ref name=":122" /> Like his predecessor, Uthman II was defeated and killed at Njimi (the imperial capital).<ref name=":3">Palmer, H.
