Yamabushi

Their origins can be traced back to the solitary Yama-bito and some Template:Nihongo (saints or holy persons) of the eighth and ninth centuries.<ref>Template:Cite book</ref>

  • Yuigesa ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}), a harness or sash adorned with pom-poms
  • Kyahan ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}), sandals made from straw
  • Tokin ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}) which is a small hat-like adornment worn at the front of the head
  • Shakujō ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}), a metal rod, held in their hands
  • Oi ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}), backpack
  • Horagai ({{#invoke:Lang|lang}}), a conch shell, which they blow like a horn to bind evil spirits
