Biography

He was Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> in the cabinet of Junichiro Koizumi, before being replaced by Yoshinobu Shimamura. He had also previously served as Transport Minister under Ryutaro Hashimoto.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref>
Kamei died on 12 May 2006.<ref name="Japan Times">Template:Cite news</ref> He was 70.<ref name="Japan Times" />
