It is part of the Pirkanmaa region, and is located Template:Convert from Tampere. The municipality has a population of Template:Data Finland municipality/population count ({{#time: j F Y|Template:Data Finland municipality/population count }})<ref name="population_count" /> and covers an area of Template:Convert of which Template:Convert is water.<ref name="total_area" /> The population density is Template:Convert.

The neighboring municipalities of Hämeenkyrö are Ikaalinen, Nokia, Sastamala and Ylöjärvi. The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

The drinking horn depicting coat of arms of Hämeenkyrö was designed by Gustaf von Numers and it was confirmed in 1954.<ref>Mitä-Missä-Milloin 1980, p. 158. Helsinki: Otava 1979. The name Hämeenkyrö comes from Finnish words "Häme" and "kyrö", which together mean a craggy and thicketed area located in the Tavastia region.
